2021 Georgia Wine Highway

Big changes are coming to the annual event known as Wine Highway. Now known as Georgia Wine Highway and sponsored by Georgia Wine Producers, the statewide organization representing wineries and vineyards in Georgia. In 2020, wine highway transitioned to a month-long event, this tradition will continue in 2021. Georgia Wine Highway will be held the entire month of August 2021.

Defining the Waldmet Style

The Waldmet Style starts with the best ingredients that nature has to offer and combines them in such a way to create imbibable products that develop memorably during their journey across your palate...beginning, middle (mid-palate) and end (finish). There’s no need to be a wine expert to appreciate the flavors as the experience is intuitive and hard-wired into our senses.

Early Spring Celebration

Although the first day of Spring isn't until March 20th, we wanted to get the celebration started a week early. So that means opening up our back patio, half-priced growler fills all weekend, new multi-bottle discounts, more games, and some news about new libations. Also, we can now ship to California! That makes it 38 states!

Meet Our Meadmaker

Meet Mike. He owns Waldmet Cellars and is also the Meadmaker there. He's a bit of a fermentation fanatic, experienced home cook, and an avid craftsman & outdoorsman. With a professional background in marketing, graphic design, and software development; mead has been one of his many hobbies that allows him to step away from a screen and get his hands dirty.

Your Guide to Drinking Mead

Although mead is often associated with Viking and Medieval culture, it has been enjoyed by many others as well. Mead is likely the oldest alcoholic beverage, with evidence of its production being traced back to 6,500 to 7,000 B.C. in Northern China. That's certainly well before beer and grape wine made an appearance. Here’s why you should give this ancient drink a try now.

Spread Some Holiday Cheer

Help spread some holiday cheer this year by sharing some of the finest meads & ciders on offer. We’re a husband and wife team that live in Jasper, GA and make all of our small-batch meads and ciders here as well. Our taproom may have only opened this past August, but we've been crafting fine mead, cider, wine, beer, and more for over 12 years. That dedication to craft beverages certainly shows in the quality of our products. Make sure to enjoy a bottle or two and share some of our unique offerings with friends and family this holiday season.

Barrel-Aged Prereleases and Mead Club Details

The first 3 meads coming from our barrel program are now available for prerelease. This means that you can sample and purchase them in the taproom. In the next few weeks they will be available for purchase online as well. Keep reading for more details about these meads and our mead club.

Mead Club Coming Soon...Plus More Updates

We've been hard at work since the grand opening of our taproom on August 29, 2020. Our mead has already been shipped to 6 states, there are multiple barrels filled with mead that should be going into bottles in the next month or so, more batches of mead are being started, session meads should be available in cans soon, we started offering free WiFi, and the final touches are being put on our mead club...the Kupfer Klub "Copper Club".
